And yes, I could just take those extras, sell them, and fill in the gaps I want that way, but I'd rather give Arsians the chance to trade cards without having to effectively pay a middle-man for it.
The very small sets with only 5-6 cards are 1000-1200 gems, while the really long ones, like Starbound and Wasteland 2 with 15 different cards each, are 400. It's my impression that the booster packs' prices are based on the number of cards in the set - the more cards per set, the lower the booster pack cost. And then just sell the cards, and buy the ones you need. How many gems are Starbound booster packs? Because the cards are so dirt cheap, it might make more sense to find out which boosters you can get for a lot higher price/card for probably not that many more gems/pack.
